Brad Nortley

Brad Nortley has been involved in the sport of off road racing for a few years now, competing locally in Michigan at various competitions, such as Drummond Island Rock Crawl Challenge and the Trail Masters Challenge. For the 2011 season, Brad plans to compete in both the Best in the Desert and Jeep Speed race series, in the 3700 Class. His vehicle is a Jeep T1 Military Wrangler, which was originally built for the Egyptian military, but he was able to get his hands on one state side. There are only three Jeep T1s in the US, making this an incredibly rare vehicle.

The extra wheelbase of the vehicle will make this an excellent desert race vehicle in the Jeep Speed series, with its 120” wheelbase as opposed to the average 102” that most racers have. The Jeep T1 will feature a 7.2 hemi engine producing nearly 640 HP, and a one of a kind suspension for Jeep desert racing. The suspension will consist of Triple By Pass and Coil Over shocks at all four corners and custom trailing arms in the rear. So not only will this be a one of a kind vehicle by itself, but by turning it into a desert assassin, it will set itself apart from any Jeep ever built.

Brad has already received confirmation from Moab Jeeper Magazine, and Jeep Action Magazine, about doing build-up articles on his Jeep T1 and featuring it in their respective magazines. He has also been in touch with John Cappa, editor of JP Magazine, about featuring the T1 in one of their many off-road magazines once the build is complete. A few build threads have also been started on various online forums and have been getting great responses, with people begging to see the finished product. He has also been in the November 2009 issue of 4wd and Sport Utility and the December 2009 issue of Fourwheeler, also many other events and wheeling trips that Brad has been on that have also been featured in off-roading magazines. The Jeep will also be displayed at the 2011 SEMA show, which is very exciting as this coming year will be Brad’s first trip to the show.
