Chase Motorsports
Chase Motorsports has gained experience by spending the 2009 season racing the Mojave Off Road Enthusiasts, M.O.R.E., California series. They were able to capture the Class 1 Championship, in their first season in Class 1. The team has the drive to win events and ultimately another championship. This season they finished 3rd in total points for class 1/1500 out of 63 competitors, and also WON Rookie of the Year points in their first year running the Best in the Desert series.
Chase Motorsports is the evolution of B.A.D. Racing, which was started in 1983 by Bob Stockton and Don Chase. Bob and Don raced competitively in class 10 and class 1600 winning races and taking 2nd and 3rd in the 1600 Championship in consecutive years. In 2008 Chase Motorsports was formed when Don and his son Travis moved up to Class 1/1500 competition.
Don has been an avid off-roader since 1976, when he gave his wife her own dune buggy for their 1st anniversary. Don has raced competitively since 1983. He also has done most of the fabrication on all of the racecars. He feels this adds to his knowledge of each racecar, so when there is a problem he can identify it and correct it. This is the key to Chase Motorsports ability to finish 5 out of 6 races in 2009. The team finished the last three races in ‘09 with an Overall win and two Second Overalls, with 6th being their worst finish. This has continued into 2010 season with 5 out of 5 finishes including a 2nd place finish on the podium.
Travis started racing motorcycles while he was in college. He competed at the Mammoth Motocross, and the Whiplash off-road series in Arizona, where he advanced from Beginner to Expert over a 4-year period by winning many races. Since his marriage he has concentrated on racing in off-road cars. Travis is a very talented driver and has the ability to drive at night as fast as his dad does in daylight. At the M.O.R.E. Chili Cook-off, he ran lap speeds in excess of 60 MPH, top speeds of 125 MPH, and took the OVERALL by over 10 minutes. He also finished 2nd in class and 5th overall at the BITD Henderson 250, behind offroad greats like Sam Berri, Jason Voss, Andy McMillin, and BJ Baldwin.
